I work for a large office where we all have cubicles as well as group work rooms where we handle team projects. In my many years of working here (and other places), no one has ever hinted that I have a hygiene problem. I bathe regularly and have a steady boyfriend who has never said anything about body odor. I found an anonymous note on my desk, addressed to me so I know it was meant for me, that said I have really bad body order and everyone is too embarrassed to tell me. I am mortified. Do you think someone is playing a mean joke?
— No Longer Sure
How could I know via email? For all I know, you stink. Go stand close to five strangers and ask them.

I think the best thing you can do is not react at work — at all. If it was a stupid joke, deprive the dolts of their opportunity to watch you squirm. This is also a good strategy if the truth is that one of your co-workers thinks you have a problem but is too embarrassed to address you directly.
If you have never been told about problems in the past and your boyfriend does not seem to take a deep breath before approaching you, it’s certainly possible that the note does not mean you smell bad. If you are truly concerned, ask a trusted friend or relative and let him or her know why you are asking.
