A couple of my co-workers and I have been having long and heated discussions about whether or not Kim Davis (the county clerk in Kentucky) should have gone to jail. (These are definitely not arguments, we’re all getting along even though we disagree.) What do you think?
I think you should all stop discussing current events and start doing your jobs. Where’s your supervisor during all this? Slaps to him or her for not slapping the lot of you back to work.
In my not-so-humble opinion, the judge should not have sent Ms. Davis to jail. What’s the point? A few slaps while shouting, “Read the Constitution!” might have done the trick just as well.

I also don’t think Ms. Davis should have gone to jail. It just expanded the media circus — did anyone actually think jail would change Ms. Davis’s attitude about her job? At the same time, I would fire her if she were an employee of mine and not an elected official. She took an oath to give out licenses to people who are legally entitled to one and now she won’t. While I do not wish to slap her, I do think she should be invited to take a Civics class so she can learn just what the U.S. Constitution protects (and does not protect) when it comes to religion.
