I am not a fan of my supervisor. He is condescending and rude. Today I asked him for clarification about a work assignment. I thought there would be no time to complete the task he was assigning, so I tried to explain how my other obligations would prevent me from meeting his expectation. He replied, “Just pull up your big boy underwear and do your best.” I was offended. Does this qualify as sex harassment since he mentioned my underwear?
I am speechless. Almost.
If your boss had actually grabbed your underwear while you were wearing it and pulled it up, that might be harassment. It would certainly be a wedgie, and that’s harassment in my book. Hysterical, but harassment.
Merely mentioning “underwear”, however, is no more sexual harassment than it would be to say, “I like mixed nuts” or “You are such a boob.”

You are clearly referring to a figure of speech. It might not have been professional, but there would have to be a lot more going on than this statement before you would be coasting into the land of harassment. It sounds to me as if your boss was trying to tell you to stop whining and start working. Perhaps if you attacked the work itself instead of trying to argue about doing it, you would have more time.
